Martes, el 10 de diciembre

No estoy aquí hoy. Obviamente. Estoy enfermo y no quería compartirla con Uds. Tienen dos cosas que van a hacer hoy. Primero, van a escribir un ensayo. Vayan a la página de vhlcentral.com. Escojan el cuaderno (Workbook) y hagan la tarea que es para entregar el jueves. Es un ensayo persuasivo y tienen 60 minutos para leer las cosas y escribrir el ensayo. Quiero que escriban el ensayo en la computadora. Si necesitan audífonos (headphones), pido que los compartan con amigos. El sub no tiene las llaves para recogerlos.

Cuando hayan terminado, pueden usar el resto de la clase para trabajar en su tarea de Wix, su vocabulario o su "Outside Reading Log".

Recuerdan que en la próxima clase habrá un examen de Reading and Listening Comprehension. Si tienen preguntas, envíenme un email. ¡Gracias!

La belleza y la estética: Una página web

Busca fotos de cosas que tú piensas que son bellas. Después, elige un país hispanohablante que te interese y busca información sobre los estilos populares en ese país. Después, usando el sitio wix.com, vas a crear una página web que compara tus preferencias con las del país que has elegido.:


  • la apariencia general
  • la ropa (marca, estado) 
  • los accesorios 
  • el peinado 
  • los intereses 
  • los valores


La página web será parte de una presentación oral que darás el 16 de diciembre. Tendrás que tenerla lista para esa fecha.

Un invento

First, you are going to go to the Temas book on the VHL Central website (www.vhlcentral.com). There is a short 10 minute video with some comprehension questions on there for you to watch and answer. When finished, do the following.
En parejas, piensa en un invento que podría mejorar la vida humana y redacta (escribe) una breve descripción en la que incluyas:

•el nombre del invento
•qué permite hacer
•cómo mejora la vida
•a quiénes beneficia más
•qué desventajas puede tener
•un dibujo del invento

Házlo en un Google Doc y compártelo conmigo (kanzlerd@friscoisd.org). Sé creativo y diviértete, pero no tomes muchísimo tiempo con eso. Cuando termine, puede comenzar a escribir tus frases de vocabulario (de Wordreference.com) o seguir buscando los artículos y audios para el "Reading/listening log".

Tarea para la semana

Don't forget (while you have your week off from Spanish), to keep up with your reading and listening log, as well as to go online to do your assignment. Make sure that you go into the AP Spanish Workbook section and do the listening and reading activity that are assigned on there. Also, you may use the reading and listening sources for your log if you so desire, so that you can "matar dos pájaros de un tiro". If you have lost the website, it is vhlcentral.com. ¡Gracias!

Square Root Curve Ticket

In order to earn the square root curve for your test on Monday, September 23, you will need to take a practice "National Spanish Exam". Click here to take the test. When you have completed it, fill in the form below with information from your test. This needs to be completed by 9AM on Monday in order to receive credit. Remember, it is optional, but a good way to both prepare for the test and to receive the square root curve, which means that Ii will take the square root of whatever percentage score you get and multiply it by 10 in order to determine your grade. For example: if you get an 81, the square root is 9, multiply by 10 and your actual score would be 90. ¡Buena suerte!

You are going to start off by working with a partner to view the "El niño y la niebla" presentation and answer some questions on a Google Doc. Click here to view the presentation. When you get to the last slide, fill in the form below. After that is complete, you will read, in groups, the story of "El niño y la niebla" and answer the questions (individually) on the next form. ¡Diviértanse! And don't forget about the quiz and finishing up your sentences which will be due on Tuesday. El niño y la niebla

Jueves, el 29 de agosto

Today we have a couple of things to do. Primero, we're going to see how well you know your present tense verb conjugations. Get started below.
Afterwards, you are going to create a "Glog" about yourself. Click here to access Glogster. If you have never used Glogster before, you will need to create a new account. The Glog should include images and words (in Spanish) that describe who you are. It should be a collage/poster of things you like, your family, etc.
Lastly, you are going to create your own Audioboo account. Click here to access Audioboo. Once you have created the account, you will record, for at least 1 minute, yourself describing yourself in Spanish. An audio autobiography. Do your very best, I simply want to hear you speak. Audioboo will be an audio journal you will keep throughout the year. Once complete, search for kanzlerd and select "follow". Ask me if you have any questions. Estoy aquí para servir.

Weekly Assignment - Due 5/5 (Cinco de mayo)

As we mentioned at the end of class, this week's assignment is to do the oral presentation part of the practice exam. Click here to access the audio. Make sure that you select the oral presentation link, if it doesn't default to that. (If you lost your exam book, click here to get the prompt and the reading...go to page 11). Then, call me at (214) 531-4839 and leave me the 2 minute voicemail message.

Don't forget that I will be doing an AP review session in room C153 on Monday morning. Come at 9:30 and plan to stay until 12:15 (unless you have another session to attend). We will just go over anything that you would like extra preparation with. Don't forget to check out the Tips and Tricks document on my blog if you have not yet done so.


Lastly, be sure to arrive by 7:45 on Tuesday morning for the AP exam. Bring a pencil or two, a pen (or two) and get good rest the night before. Come prepared for success!!

Assignment to earn the square root curve for Friday, April 19

In order to earn the square root curve, please read and article (in Spanish) and listen to a recording (in Spanish) before Friday. Visit the website BBC Mundo and find an article. In order to receive credit, print the article off and then hand-write a summary in English of what the article is talking about. Then, go to this website and listen to each of the recordings from UT-Austin's website. Then, on the same paper as your summary of the article, write a paragraph, in Spanish, in which you compare what each of the 6 people say about "La vida sin electricidad". This needs to be complete and brought with you to class on Friday, no exceptions.

Vas a crear un anuncio en la cual explicas algún producto que tienes y utilizas a menudo. En el anuncio, vas a poner fotos y hablar de qué es el producto, qué haces con ello y su importancia en tu vida. Tendrás veinte minutos para prepararte y luego grabarás la presentación en educreations. Hablarás por un mínimo de 2 minutos. Después, verás las presentaciones de tus compañeros de clase y rellenarás la hoja correspondiente.
